“Even in worst-case scenarios, we have options marked by great beauty and recovery,” writes INSEAD’s Nathan Furr in an article this week about managing uncertainty. His words brought me a bit of comfort, considering how little we know about a post-crisis future. I recommend reading his full piece for more insights on how to keep a forward-looking mindset during these turbulent times.

As our coverage of the different ways the pandemic is changing work and our lives continues, here are some pieces I don’t want you to miss:

– Research on how the coronavirus crisis is impacting small businesses and recommendations for how they might be able to find a way forward.

– An examination of how digital contract tracing helped slow the spread of the virus in East Asia.

– What this crisis means for nonprofit fundraising and strategies for approaching donors.

– A look at our collective struggle to focus right now and what to do about it.

– Yes, it is possible to build your team’s resilience from home.

– An exploration of how the shift to remote work has given us new insight into each other’s lives — how will the elusive search for work-life balance change as a result?

We also just kicked off a new season of the Women at Work podcast. The first episode includes the voices of listeners from around the world sharing insights on how they are managing the twin challenges of remote work and caregiving. I suspect this might be our most powerful season yet as our hosts examine how this crisis uniquely affects women and tackle issues from leading in a crisis to managing emotions. I hope you subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts and sign up for the monthly Women at Work newsletter to stay up to date.

I’ll close with a note of thanks to those of you who wrote to me last week with some of the ways you’re staying inspired and motivated during these uncertain times. A number of you wrote in to say that listening to music has been a helpful escape for you. If you follow us on Instagram, make sure to check out our recent story on how upbeat music can influence your workday.

Thanks for reading and listening — and be well,

Maureen
